This privacy policy explains how PingPet collects, uses, and protects your data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revDSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What Data We Collect
Account data:
- Email address (for authentication)
- Display name
- Language preference
- Authentication method (email magic link or OAuth)
Pet care data (entered by you):
- Pet profiles: name, species, breed, age, weight, allergies, dietary notes, medications, vet contact
- Care action logs: action type, timestamp, optional note, optional photo
- Care stays: which sitter is assigned to which pet, session dates
Consent records:
- Consent version, language, and timestamp
3. What Data We Do NOT Collect
- Location data (GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth)
- Device fingerprints or unique device identifiers
- IP addresses for tracking or profiling purposes
- Browsing behaviour, screen time, or usage patterns
- Behavioural data or activity patterns
- Home security information (WiFi passwords, alarm codes, access instructions)
4. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Authenticate your identity and provide access to the service
- Display pet care instructions to assigned sitters
- Record and display care action logs
- Generate status indicators (Green/Yellow/Red) based on your logged actions
- Send notifications about care actions (if enabled)
- Generate care reports (PDF export, if requested)
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for profiling, advertising, or behavioural analysis. We do not generate AI summaries, predictions, or scores based on your data.
5. Where Your Data Is Stored
- Database: Supabase (Ireland, European Union)
- Application hosting: Replit (United States, Google Cloud Platform)
- Domain: Infomaniak (Switzerland)
- Email delivery: Resend (United States)
Your pet care data (pet profiles, care logs, photos, assignments) is stored in the European Union (Ireland). The application server that processes requests runs in the United States. Email delivery for login links and notifications is processed in the United States. All services use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
6. Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following circumstances:
- Between Owners and Sitters: When an Owner assigns a Sitter, the Sitter can see the pet's care profile and can create care logs. The Owner can see all care logs for their pet.
- Service providers: Supabase, Replit, Resend, and Infomaniak process data on our behalf to provide the service.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by Swiss law or a lawful court order.
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party not listed above.
7. Data Retention
- Active data: Retained during your use of the service
- Archived session data: Up to 90 days after a care stay ends
- Magic link tokens: Deleted within 24 hours of expiry
- Account deletion: All data permanently deleted within 72 hours of your request
8. Your Rights
Under Swiss revDSG and EU GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data (available via app settings or by emailing support@pingpet.ch)
- Data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
- Object: Object to processing of your data
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account

9. Security
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
- Encrypted database storage via Supabase
- Row-level security policies enforced at the database level
- Rate limiting to prevent brute-force attacks
- Care logs are append-only (cannot be edited or deleted by sitters)
10. Cookies and Tracking
PingPet does not use advertising cookies, analytics tracking, third-party tracking pixels, or browser fingerprinting. PingPet uses only essential session cookies required for authentication.
11. Children's Privacy
PingPet is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact support@pingpet.ch.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app.

3. Welche Daten wir NICHT erheben
- Standortdaten (GPS, WLAN, Bluetooth)
- Gerätefingerabdrücke oder eindeutige Gerätekennungen
- IP-Adressen zu Verfolgungs- oder Profilierungszwecken
- Surfverhalten, Bildschirmzeit oder Nutzungsmuster
- Verhaltensdaten oder Aktivitätsmuster
- Haussicherheitsinformationen (WLAN-Passwörter, Alarmcodes)
4. Wie wir Ihre Daten verwenden
Ihre Daten werden ausschliesslich verwendet für:
- Authentifizierung und Bereitstellung des Zugangs zum Dienst
- Anzeige von Tierpflegeanweisungen für zugewiesene Sitter
- Aufzeichnung und Anzeige von Betreuungsprotokollen
- Erstellung von Statusanzeigen (Grün/Gelb/Rot)
- Versand von Benachrichtigungen (falls aktiviert)
Wir verkaufen keine Daten, nutzen sie nicht für Profiling oder Werbung und erstellen keine KI-Zusammenfassungen oder Vorhersagen.
5. Wo Ihre Daten gespeichert werden

9. Sicherheit
Verschlüsselte Verbindungen, verschlüsselte Datenbankspeicherung, Sicherheitsrichtlinien auf Datenbankebene (Row Level Security), Ratenbegrenzung, unveränderliche Betreuungsprotokolle.
10. Cookies und Tracking
PingPet verwendet keine Werbe-Cookies, kein Analytics-Tracking, keine Tracking-Pixel und kein Browser-Fingerprinting. Nur wesentliche Sitzungs-Cookies für die Authentifizierung.
